TIME

It’s not hard to understand that if everything in our home has a place, it makes it easier to locate. How many times have you tried to find that charger, permission slip or document, to no avail. We spend a great deal of our time trying to find things in our home that should be easy to track down.

MONEY

If everything has a place of its own and a certain amount of space, then we are less likely to buy more than we need. We all know that feeling of coming home from the grocery store or HomeSense weighed down with several shopping bags, only to discover we already have 24 rolls of bathroom tissue and a dozen other vases. When you are organized you simply buy what you need because you can clearly see when you need to restock or replace.

ENERGY

Getting organized and staying organized will save you both physical and emotional energy. I don’t know about you, but I have expelled a great deal of physical energy tearing apart the house in search of the elusive cell phone. And as we all know, once we start ripping apart the house to locate that missing phone, we inevitably need to spend double that time cleaning up. If only we had organized our space.

Emotional energy is a little different, it takes up space or “rent” in our minds. I know it’s hard to let go of items from our past and even more difficult to let go of children’s items from long ago. But let’s face it, you are not fitting into the jeans you wore 15 years ago and if so, Bravo!

It’s okay to let go, to donate, re-home and purge. It’s cleansing.

PEACE OF MIND

Having an organized space brings most people peace and comfort. When everything has a place and is kept in order, we can relax and enjoy our surroundings.

Organizing is more than aesthetics. It’s about freeing yourself to enjoy your spare time knowing that your life can run smoothly. It’s that feeling of calm that we all get knowing that a job is complete and we now get to relax.
